About the initiative
The Direct Transact Foundation supports the Kairos Development Project Foundation which is a non-profit organisation, registered in April 2016. Kairos focusses on helping children, single parents and the elderly.
Although certain projects need to be sustainable, Kairos further strives to focus on things that arise as a matter of urgency, and requires immediate attention, especially by assisting people who need after-hours assistance with food, clothes, and so on.
Chris Sealie, the Chairman of the Kairos Foundation spent 24 years at the Laërskool Generaal Nicolaas Smit Primary School, where the broken, yet loving parents and children of this community, have irrevocably changed his life.
The school currently has 1,450 learners, 700 of whom cannot pay school fees and are in dire need. Many of these learners live in “Wendy houses” in squatter camps.
