About the initiative
An initiative inspired by a remarkable elderly woman from a rural area, who sought help to gain access to water in her rural home. This led to a greater project, where since 2021, The Direct Transact Foundation has placed one hundred and fifteen, 5000ℓ water tanks, in the Ezenzeleni, Tweeling and Reitz area, covering over 1380 individual households touching the lives of approximately 5520 individuals. Each tank, was designated to 12 specific households of which these occupants, both young and old, prior to the start of the project, had no running water.
Based on the success of the project and the immeasurable impact had on the community, The Direct Transact Foundation proceeded with a second project in the Tweeling and a third project in the Reitz district using the same principle of that in the Ezenzeleni rural area.
The Direct Transact Foundation strives to continue its efforts, with the vision of installing a further 199 tanks in the Free State rural area.
