Tshepo Foundation

About the initiative

The Tshepo Foundation was founded and launched in Bloemfontein, South Africa on the 1st of March 2001 by the Reverend Peter Howe and his wife, Petro. Direct Transact assisted Tshepo Foundation in realising their dream by way of assisting them with the purchasing of tents in which the Centre began with fifty children and six volunteers serving as staff.

Over the years, the growth of Tshepo Day Care Centre has been phenomenal, accommodating 250 children in six separate classrooms with a hall facility and nine permanent staff members.

Tshepo Wellness Centre opened its doors in March 2011. A wooden “Wendy” structure was built on the Care Centre’s site to serve as a screening and referral clinic, for the exclusive use of the Tshepo children. Volunteer doctors regularly check the children, and when problems are identified, they are referred to various doctors, hospitals and clinics.
