About the initiative
Initiated by the Direct Transact Foundation, in collaboration, with the purpose of creating a meaningful long-term impact by addressing human-environment complexities. Moving beyond traditional environmental education, BCP fosters incremental intellectual, psychological, emotional, and social shifts to drive lasting change.
This holistic approach led to the conceptualisation of the Community Well-being and Sustainability Institute - an innovative model designed to promote resilience, well-being, and environmental sustainability.
The BCP program operates through three hubs:
-
Learning Hub: Education, skills development, and job readiness, including conservation-linked opportunities.
-
Community Care Hub: Physical and mental health support, family well-being, and community safety.
-
Nature Connection Hub: Environmental sustainability, conservation, and responsible resource management, ensuring that local communities play an active role in biodiversity conservation, habitat restoration, and sustainable resource use.
This programme should serve as a model for integrating conservation with sustainable community development.
